In this episode of Valleys of the Wild, we explore one of... Yellowstone’s most iconic and otherworldly places — the Mammoth Hot Springs. 🌋
We covered the entire area on foot, walking along the boardwalks that wind through steaming terraces of travertine and colorful mineral formations. Here, I explained the science behind these geothermal wonders — how hot water from deep within the earth rises through limestone, depositing layers of calcium carbonate that constantly reshape the landscape.
Adding to the magic, the town around Mammoth was full of elk roaming freely, creating a perfect blend of wildlife and geothermal beauty. 🦌
As evening fell, we enjoyed a peaceful night drive around Mammoth Hot Springs, followed by a warm dinner at the Terrace Grill, and finally made our way back to Gardiner, reaching the hotel around 10 PM to rest for the next adventure.
