The film tells the story of Swathi, the...privileged daughter of a rich businessman, and Raju, a humble music instrument salesman. Raju is initially infatuated, but is insulted and rejected by Swathi. After Raju saves her life in an accident, Swathi realizes his goodness and begins to pursue him, but now Raju is hesitant. The rest of the plot centers on their on-again, off-again romance and the inevitable conflict with Swathi's father, who opposes their love due to their differing social statuses, which Raju must overcome to marry Swathi.
