Draupathi is a daring attempt at exposing Casteism which goes hand in hand with Politics in the rural areas of Tamil Nadu. The film boldly talks about the antisocial elements that have taken deep roots in the society. Draupathi is the wife of Rudra Prabhakaran, a Silambam (a weapon-based South Indian martial art form) trainer in the village of Senthamangalam. The story begins with Rudra Prabhakran getting released after spending 6 months in prison for the honor killings of his wife - Draupathi and her sister - Lakshmi. As he sets out to solve the murder mystery of his beloved, he exposes an undercover fake marriage racket comprising of lawyers, politicians, Government officials, etc. The film expresses the struggles faced by a common man, burdened by social injustice and his determination to expose the corruption in the system.
