Annamalai's ghost tries to contact his son Pasupathy, a taxi driver in love with lawyer Vaanathi. Aavudaiyappan, a medium, reluctantly helps after being annoyed by the ghost. Pasupathy resents his late father, who had abused him. Annamalai was killed during a... Yajna, and Pasupathy was wrongly blamed, forcing him to flee. Pasupathy returns to clear his name and uncovers that Annamalai’s brother, Velu, committed the murder for a property. In the climax, Pasupathy performs his father's last rites, and Velu, who becomes a ghost, is burned. Pasupathy then takes his father’s place in the village.
