Canada deported 3,323 Indian nationals in the first half of 2026, making them the largest nationality group removed from the country and surpassing Mexico (1,573 removals). This figure represents nearly 88% of the total 3,779 Indians deported in all of 2025,...placing the nation on track to set a new annual record.

The surge in deportations is driven by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) efforts to tighten immigration rules, reduce temporary residents, and clear a backlog of cases. Common reasons for removal include visa overstays, non-compliance with immigration rules, rejected asylum claims, and visa fraud. Additionally, 7,669 Indian nationals are currently in Canada’s "removal in progress" inventory, the highest number among all nationalities.
