Dheepam is a 1977 Indian Tamil-language film, directed by K. Vijayan and produced by K. Balaji. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Sujatha, Vijayakumar and Sangeetha. The film had a musical score by Ilaiyaraaja. It was a remake of the Madhu-starrer Malayalam film...Theekkanal.

The film was also remade in Telugu as Amaradeepam with Krishnam Raju and in Hindi as Amardeep with Rajesh Khanna.

Raja (Sivaji) and Kannan (Vijayakumar) are siblings. One day Kannan accidentally breaks their family photo. Raja beats Kannan and runs away from home. Raja is brought up by a notorious smuggler. The smuggler changes Raja's name to Somu which was his deceased son's name. Somu grows up to be an immoral man who uses women for his own pleasure. He falls in love with Radha (Sujatha), who is his adoptive sister Latha's friend. However, Radha and Kannan love each other. When Somu proposes to Radha, she refuses. A jealous Somu attempts to kill Kannan. He accidentally sees their childhood photo and realizes that Kannan is his own younger brother. He arranges Kannan and Radha's marriage. Kannan comes to know about Somu's love for Radha. He misunderstands the situation and starts suspecting Radha's devotion towards him. Somu comes to know of this and decides to kill himself for his brother's happiness.
